Little furry critters need homes
The San Diego Humane Society is nearing capacity with nearly 200 small animals in its care and is encouraging the public to consider adoption.
The organization currently houses 121 guinea pigs, 52 rabbits and 12 rodents, including hamsters, mice and rats. Due to the social nature of many of these animals, adopting in pairs is often recommended.
“Small pets make wonderful companions – and right now, we have so many who need loving homes,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. “If you’ve ever thought about adopting a rabbit or guinea pig, now is the time.”
All rabbits available for adoption have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Type 2. Prospective adopters can access care guides for each species – including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and rats – at sdhumane.org.
More information and a list of adoptable animals can be found at www.sdhumane.org/adopt.
