Room for a view

When the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to a close Sunday soccer fans will have a final chance to watch the championship game with thousands of other aficionados.

The city of Chula Vista’s San Diego FC Soccer Celebration will host a free viewing party July 19 at DeVore stadium on the Southwestern College campus.

Only 3,000 tickets will be available for the viewing party Sunday, featuring Spain v.s. Argentina. RSVPs are required.

According to organizers, an estimated 40,000 people attended the June 18 San Diego FC Soccer Celebration in downtown Chula Vista for the Mexico v.s. South Korea match.

Throughout the monthlong international soccer tournament bars and restaurants in the South County and nationwide saw thousands of people gather to watch the games. Large crowds of jubilant fans in Chula Vista and National City flocked to area venues to watch Mexico play, occasionally spilling out into the streets to enjoy their team’s participation in the quadrennial soccer tournament.

The July 19 viewing party is family-friendly. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Gates open at 11 a.m. Game starts at noon.
