Two Memorial Day ceremonies planned

The county’s two national cemeteries are holding Memorial Day ceremonies this weekend.

The 14th Annual Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 25 at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive.

The Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery Ceremony will take place May 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cemetery is at 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive in Point Loma.

“This Memorial Day we honor the memory and sacrifice of over one million Americans who, since the beginning of the Civil War to the present, have died defending our freedom,” said Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation president and CEO Charles Bailey. “We are honored to be on these hallowed grounds and to be paying tribute to men and women who gave all.”
