Hoping for more voters
Regarding your recent perspective “A Rare Summer Opportunity. Don’t squander the opportunity.” (June 13.)
According to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters, less than 18% of registered voters cast a ballot during the April 2025 First Supervisorial district special primary election. This figure reflects a level of voter apathy that does not bode well for our democracy.
I am hopeful that more voters will cast their ballots during the upcoming July 1st runoff election. Otherwise, a minority of South County voters will have chosen their representative for the County Board of Supervisors. That would be a real shame.
