Celebrating community spirit in Terra Nova: Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale returns

As a longtime resident of Terra Nova and a local real estate broker since 1989, I’ve had the joy of watching this neighborhood grow into one of Chula Vista’s most connected and vibrant communities. One of the traditions that captures that spirit best is our Annual Terra Nova Community Garage Sale — that started in 1993 and I’m proud to say it’s happening again this year on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This event started with a simple idea: bring neighbors together, clear out clutter, and maybe uncover a few treasures in the process. What began as a small gathering has blossomed into a community-wide event with over 70 participating homes — one of the largest garage sales in the South Bay.

Affectionately nicknamed “Nesbitt Country” by some of our residents, Terra Nova is more than just a neighborhood — it’s a place where people look out for each other, share what they have, and take pride in where they live. The garage sale reflects that beautifully. It’s not just about buying and selling — it’s about community connection, laughter in the driveways, and neighbors helping neighbors.

Whether you’re a bargain hunter, a curious browser, or just looking for a fun Saturday morning stroll, we invite you to come visit 407 Windrose Way to pick up a map and explore the area. There’s something for everyone — and you might just leave with more than you expected (in the best way).
